As of May, 2009 Doug has been serving as Volunteer Chaplain and Interfaith Coordinator for Essex County. He ministers in both the Essex County Correctional Facility and the Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center Map.This opening has completed the cirlcle of ministry, giving us unprecedented access to not only share the Gospel, but also connect men to New Brothers and local churches.
In his role as Chaplain, Doug ministers in worship and the Word, coordinates a Protestant volunteers, and meets with men for counseling. He also serves as the Interfaith Coordinator, scheduling services and volunteers for Muslim, Jehovah's Witness, Christian Science, and other faiths.
The Chaplaincy in Essex County is supported by a Volunteer base of over fifty men and women from churches all over the county. The Body of Christ is fulfilling the call of Matthew 25, "I was in prison and you came to Me."
