Because the ministry of New Brothers Fellowship emphasizes discipleship and the local church, Volunteers from the local church are vital to what the Lord is doing through NBF. There are a few significant ways that you can invest directly in the lives of men inside and outside of prison. We encourage you to explore the possibiblities and get involved as the Lord leads you.
NBF Discipleship Groups
The core ministry to released men is our NBF Discipleship Groups. Currently meeting in four cities in Essex County, our Discipleship Groups bring men from the local church into fellowship and Bible study with men who are striving to walk with the Lord on the outside. All men are welcome to participate in the NBF DG's. We are also looking for mature men who might be interested in supporting the leadership of their local Discipleship Group. Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center (The FARM)
Every Sunday night at the Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center (LCAC) we hold a worship service at the chapel. This two-hour service includes praise and worship, testimonies, prayer, and the ministry of the Word. The men at the FARM are extremely blessed to have Brothers and Sisters from the Body of Christ come to worship the Lord and encourage them. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how the Lord is moving in prison. Both men and women are welcome to participate.
The FARM (LCAC) is a minimum security facility that has no cells or prison bars. It is what the county calls a pre-release center, where men are often sent when they have three to six months left on their sentence. All that is required to come check out a service at the FARM is to fill out a simple security clearance form. There are no checks of person or property.
