REALITY CHECK FROM DOUG: Financial hardships become difficult when they keep me from meeting a ministry commitment. The darkest days have been on the occasions I have had to call and cancel a ministry engagement, because there were no funds for the gasoline to get there. That, my friends, is really challenging. Knowing I am letting men down, and not knowing how many commitments I will have to miss before an offering arrives, feels like a crushing and unbearable weight on my back. Yet, it is a burden one ten dollar offering could relieve. It doesn’t take much to make an immeasurable difference. This is the reality we live with every day. Your gift to this ministry matters. 5) In Closing WE GET LETTERS: We received a letter recently from a man whom Doug had the privilege to lead the Lord and disciple for over a year at the ECCF in Middleton. “Manny” has now been transferred to a state facility to finish his sentence.
“Doug…I wanted to thank you for ministering to me at Middleton. God, working through you, picked me up, dusted me off, and set me on solid ground. Amen. As you remember, I thought my life was over – I was crushed. And then, slowly, Jesus Christ infused His Light and Truth into me. You’ve got a very vibrant chapel at Middleton and some very dedicated volunteers who are ministering to the needs of those who seek HIM. I’ve spoken to other inmates here about this. You don’t have that kind of church at many other jails in Massachusetts…I’d like to get involved in New Brothers [Fellowship] when I get out…As you know, there is a need for this ministry. Many men like me need to stay connected to a church when we get out. I’d like to help while helping myself, so to speak. My journey has just begun…One thing I know for certain: This is not wasted time. Christ is here at the prison! I am living more freely now than I was two years ago.”
Manny was a white collar professional for many years. His life took a very unexpected turn when he found himself in prison, yet it was in prison he finally met his Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ is using our prison system for His glory. There is a missionfield behind those prison gates.

SAVE THE DATE: Our next NBF Night is Friday, November 5th, at 7pm. If you are a prison volunteer at the Middleton or Lawrence facilities, you will want to be sure to attend this very special event, because the ECCF volunteers are the Guests of Honor! The men you have served want a chance to say, "THANK YOU!" More information is coming your way soon. Just be sure to save that date now and plan to be there!

WELCOMING JOY: We are excited to welcome a new volunteer to the NBF team. Allow us to introduce you to Joy Marquez, who will be helping us raise support for, and awareness of, the ministry. Please CLICK HERE to read her article: What Is Home Missions?

IN CLOSING: Thank you so much for standing with us in prayer for these men and the needs of this ministry. Thank you for praying for us to be faithful servants. We are so grateful for the privilege of going inside. When we consider how easily prison ministry can be hindered, almost brought to a complete halt in some facilities, we know we are truly fortunate to be able to be there every day.

In Him Alone,
Doug and Caroline Gregan
