Hope Writer Guidelines

This list of Hope Writer Guidelines is based on guidelines we've received from correctional facilities. Thank you for following them as you write!

 ​ Use black ink only. No markers, crayons, colored pens or pencils.

 ​ Use 3-hole punch filler paper, or 5x8 note pads. Only white. HopeMail will provide paper to anyone who asks. (SAMPLE)

 ​ Pray first for the one you are writing.

 ​ Write as neatly as possible.

 ​ Use the subscriber’s name and last initial. We have many with the same first name.

 ​ Encourage the recipient in the Lord. Lead them to God and His Word.

 ​ Share a Bible verse. Write out the verse, as the subscriber may not have a Bible.

 ​ Assume subscriber is a new Christian.

 ​ Share testimonies of your faith and trust in God.

 ​ Sign notes with your first initial, first name, pseudonym,HopeMail Friend, or Brother/Sister in Christ.

 ​ Fold note in half once or twice, and write the subscriber’s first name and last initial) at the top of the fold. (See Sample)

  DO NOT use correction fluid, like Wite-Out. Draw a line through mistakes, or use a new sheet of paper.

  DO NOT share personal information:church name, residential location,job, age, family details, vacation plans, etc.

  DO NOT discuss anything sensitive or triggering:money, relationships, health, politics, news,entertainment, etc.

  DO NOT ask any questions, becausethey cannot respond to you.
